چکیده

Background Chronic progressive multisystem granulomatous disease is seen in 10–30% of patients with sarcoidosis and can result in end organ damage [1]. Corticosteroids are the mainstay of treatment with the addition of cytotoxic agents in severe cases. Some patients are refractory to such treatment and therefore management is a challenge. There is currently limited evidence for biological agents such as infliximab, a monoclonal anti-tumor necrosis factor-a antibody in the treatment of multisystem sarcoidosis. Aim of this case report is to disseminate knowledge concerning successful treatment of multisystem sarcoidosis involving pelvis with the use of TNF-a blockers in refractory cases.

A Case Series of Refractory Cutaneous Sarcoidosis Successfully Treated with Infliximab

INTRODUCTION Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disease of unknown cause. The management of sarcoidosis remains problematic. Systemic and topical corticosteroids are the mainstay of therapy but may cause unacceptable side effects. Biologic therapies, such as infliximab, have recently been proposed as another treatment option for cutaneous sarcoidosis. CASE REPORT The authors describe thr...

Severe polyneuropathy complicating active Crohn’s disease: rapid response to Infliximab

Treatment with a chimeric antitumour necrosis factor (TNF) antibody (Infliximab) has been shown to be highly efficient for patients with steroid refractory Crohn’s disease (CD). However, the mechanism of action remains largely unknown. Recently, a favourable response to Infliximab treatment was demonstrated in some diseases complicating active CD such as acute idiopathic pancreatitis. We report...

Treatment of sarcoidosis with infliximab.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Many patients with sarcoidosis are unable to tolerate corticosteroids or alternative therapeutic agents due to side effects or have disease refractory to these agents. We report our experience using infliximab to treat such patients. METHODS A group of patients in whom traditional sarcoidosis therapy failed, either due to drug failure or intolerable side effects, were pr...

Beneficial effect of infliximab on refractory sarcoidosis.

INTRODUCTION Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disease. Evidence suggests that tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) is important in the pathophysiology, and TNF-α-inhibitors such as infliximab are therefore used against sarcoidosis refractory to traditional therapies or where side effects to these are intolerable. The aim of this retrospect-ive study was to investigate the effect of infli...
